CVE-2023-47534Network attack vector

Code execution via formula-bearing log exports

Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024

CSV formula injection in Fortinet FortiClient EMS allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted network packets. The log download feature writes attacker-controlled packet data into CSV cells without neutralizing formula-leading characters. Execution requires an administrator to export the affected logs and open the CSV in spreadsheet software that evaluates the injected formula, with commands running in that user's context.
