Process crash via signed decoding-offset overflow
Published Dec 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Integer overflow in GPAC 2.2.1 and earlier allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted ISOBMFF media file. The ctts_box_read function casts an unsigned 32-bit composition-time offset to a signed integer and passes INT_MIN to ABS, whose negation overflows. Exploitation requires local execution of MP4Box against attacker-controlled media; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash without reported data disclosure or modification.
