Command injection in GL.iNet GL-AX1800 Firmware 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via the gl_nas_sys authentication endpoint. The gl_nas_sys authentication routine incorporates the supplied password into an OpenSSL shell command without neutralizing shell metacharacters, allowing command execution as root. Exploitation requires the WebDAV/NAS service to be enabled or reachable after reboot; successful attacks provide complete control of the router.
