Device shutdown via unprotected broadcast receivers
Published Feb 5, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025
Improper input validation in Quick Reboot 1.0.8 for Android allows remote attackers to reboot or power off rooted devices. Exported PowerOff, Reboot, and Recovery broadcast receivers accept crafted intents without permission checks, allowing unauthorized callers to invoke privileged device-control actions. The app requires a rooted device; exploitation interrupts device availability by triggering shutdown, reboot, or recovery behavior without user interaction.
