Device shutdown via unverified broadcast intent
Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated May 15, 2025
Improper intent verification in Super Reboot (Root) Recovery 1.0.3 allows local users to shut down or reboot an Android device. The exported PowerOffWidgetReceiver accepts a crafted POWER_OFF broadcast and invokes a privileged power action without authenticating its sender or requiring a protective permission. Exploitation requires another application on the same device or low-privileged ADB access and interrupts device availability through an unauthorized shutdown or reboot.
