Administrator account takeover via tokenless password update
Published Nov 22, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
CSRF in SwiftyEdit CMS before 1.2.0 allows remote attackers to seize administrator accounts through the profile password-update form. The profile endpoint accepts password-change POST requests without requiring or validating a session-bound CSRF token. An administrator must be logged in and interact with attacker-controlled HTML; the forged request sets a chosen password, enabling account takeover and content or user changes.
