Command execution via insecure SOAP endpoint permissions
Published Jun 23, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025
Improper access control in NCR Terminal Handler 1.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to alter system security settings. The RoleService and EntryTypeService SOAP endpoints enforce permissions incorrectly, accepting unauthorized changes to roles, audit rules, and configuration entries. Authenticated network access is required; successful exploitation can erase audit trails, escalate privileges, or disrupt core system behavior.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
