Command execution via exported spreadsheet formulas
Published Jun 23, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025
CSV injection in NCR Terminal Handler 1.5.1 allows attackers to execute commands when an exported file is opened in a spreadsheet. The Terminal Import/Export function writes user-controlled text into CSV output without neutralizing formula-leading characters, so Excel or Calc evaluates the field as a formula. A recipient must open the exported CSV in a formula-capable spreadsheet; successful formulas can run client-side commands or exfiltrate data under that recipient's privileges.
