CVE-2023-47233

Kernel crash via uncanceled escan timeout worker

Published Nov 3, 2023 · Updated May 12, 2026

A Linux kernel use-after-free in the Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 TM MFP GNU/Linux subsystem allows physically proximate attackers to crash it. During USB hot-unplug, brcmf_cfg80211_detach frees cfg without canceling escan_timeout_work, so brcmf_cfg80211_escan_timeout_worker can access freed memory. Exploitation requires physical access or privileged driver removal and interrupts availability by crashing the kernel.
