CVE-2023-47115Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via preserved HTML avatar extension

Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated May 30, 2025

Stored XSS in Label Studio before 1.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a crafted avatar image. The avatar handler validates image dimensions and a request MIME type but preserves an attacker-controlled .html extension, after which Django serves the file as HTML. Exploitation requires a victim to visit the avatar URL; the script runs in the Label Studio origin and can act with that victim's privileges.
