Privilege escalation via writable DLL search path
Published Nov 8, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
DLL search-order hijacking in BleachBit for Windows 4.4.2 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code. bleachbit.exe and bleachbit_console.exe load a planted DLL from the user-writable c:\DLLs directory during startup. A low-privileged user must place the DLL and wait for another user to launch BleachBit; default UAC elevation runs the payload elevated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=4.4.2
