Account enumeration via distinguishable login errors
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
User enumeration in UrBackup Server 2.5.31 allows remote attackers to identify valid accounts through the unauthenticated login interface. The /x?a=login workflow returns “User does not exist” for unknown names but “Wrong password” for existing accounts, exposing account validity. No account or user interaction is required, and disclosed automation can use confirmed usernames for password guessing.
