CVE-2023-4704Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Contact-state manipulation via unchecked self-recipient IDs

Published Sep 1, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

External configuration control in InstantCMS 2 before 2.16.1-git allows remote authenticated users to alter contact state through messaging. The write action accepted the current account ID as contact_id, and sendMessage created recipient relationships without removing the sender. A logged-in account could therefore create a self-contact; public sources do not disclose the resulting path to the broader impacts reflected in the CNA score.
