Account takeover via unenforced SOAP lockout
Published Jun 23, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025
Authentication lockout bypass in NCR Terminal Handler 1.5.1 allows remote attackers to brute-force passwords through its UserService SOAP API. The validate operation accepts repeated password guesses without enforcing the configured account-lockout policy or rate limits. Successful guessing grants unauthorized account access; the referenced report does not substantiate the CVE record's arbitrary-code-execution claim.
