Process crash via unchecked track media pointers
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Null-pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.3-DEV-rev605-gfc9e29089-master allows context-dependent attackers to crash the process. The gf_isom_find_od_id_for_track function dereferences nested Media, handler, information, sampleTable, and SampleSize pointers without rejecting absent track structures. Exploitation requires MP4Box to process a crafted local media file through the affected export path, and the demonstrated consequence is an abort of that process.
