Local crash via null AVC config dereference
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in GPAC MP4Box 2.3-DEV-rev605-gfc9e29089-master allows local users to crash processing via crafted media input. The gf_media_change_pl function writes AVC profile fields through a null configuration pointer when AVC configuration is absent, producing a segmentation fault. Exploitation requires local execution of MP4Box with attacker-controlled media; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash and service interruption, not data disclosure or modification.
