Authenticated script execution via unsafe note links
Published Oct 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Proxmox proxmox-widget-toolkit before 4.0.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via edited notes. The Proxmox.Markdown parser accepted javascript: URLs in anchor tags and rendered them as clickable links instead of rejecting the unsafe scheme. An attacker must be able to edit notes, and exploitation requires another user to click the crafted link, which executes script in that user's browser and can disclose private information.
