Crash via stale sample length after discard
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Use-after-free in GPAC MP4Box 2.3-DEV-revrelease allows local users to crash the process via a crafted media file. During DASH conversion, isor_reader_get_sample discards ch->pck but leaves the static sample allocation and data lengths intact, so recursive sample retrieval reuses stale buffer state and cleanup frees the same allocation twice. The issue requires local MP4Box processing of attacker-controlled media, and the demonstrated consequence is an application crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
