Settings modification via missing nonce validation
Published Nov 6, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in the Alter plugin for WordPress 1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to modify plugin settings. The alter_conf() function accepts a forged settings request without valid nonce verification and applies it under the administrator's session. Exploitation requires an authenticated site administrator to visit a crafted page or click a malicious link; the documented consequence is unauthorized settings modification.
