CVE-2023-46739Network attack vector

Password disclosure via variable-time comparison

Published Jan 3, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Timing side channel in CubeFS before 3.3.1 allows remote attackers to recover user passwords through repeated login requests. UserService.validatePassword directly compares the supplied password with the stored string, making response time depend on the matching prefix. Exploitation requires repeated unauthenticated network measurements, and the direct consequence is password disclosure.
