Remote code execution via unrestricted file upload
Published May 28, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in vtenext 21.02 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through the CKEditor file manager. The CKEditor file manager accepts attacker-supplied files despite missing access controls and makes them available for server-side execution. A valid low-privilege account and network access are required; successful exploitation executes attacker-supplied code in the web server context.
