API key disclosure via debug log ingestion
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
Sensitive-data logging in Elastic Endpoint 7.9.0 through 8.10.3 allows remote authenticated users to read API keys from Elasticsearch. When Endpoint file logging is explicitly set to debug and Elastic Agent ships those logs, Endpoint writes its Agent API key into the indexed log in plaintext. An Elasticsearch user able to view the collected logs can reuse the key to write arbitrary data and read Endpoint user artifacts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
