Editor privilege escalation via bootstrap endpoint requests
Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper privilege management in GitHub Enterprise Server allows remote authenticated users with editor access to escalate privileges. The management console permits an editor-role request to its instance-bootstrap endpoint to confer privileges beyond that role. Authorized management-console access with the editor role is required; successful exploitation expands control over the Enterprise Server instance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=3.10.0 <=3.10.3 changes=[{"at":"3.10.3","status":"unaffected"}]
