Code execution via unchecked chroma table indexing
Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in International Color Consortium DemoIccMAX 79ecb74 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted ICC profile. CIccPRMG::GetChroma interpolates values from the global icPRMG_Chroma table using nHIndex+1 and nLIndex+1 without keeping the derived indices within the table bounds. User interaction is required to process the malicious profile; the public proof of concept demonstrates an AddressSanitizer abort from a four-byte read, and the report identifies code execution as an impact.
