Device compromise via chkResetVeriRegister stack overflow
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Stack overflow in TP-Link TL-WR886N Firmware 7.0_3.0.14_Build_221115_Rel.56908n allows remote attackers to corrupt memory. The chkResetVeriRegister function writes beyond a stack buffer when it processes crafted input; public records do not identify the input field or request path. The router must be reachable from an adjacent network, no authentication or user interaction is required, and the resulting corruption can interrupt service or compromise the device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
