Unauthenticated command execution via traceroute parameter injection
Published Oct 31, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Command injection in TOTOLINK X6000R firmware 9.4.0cu.852_B20230719 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands. The stecgi.cgi setTracerouteCfg handler fails to neutralize shell metacharacters in its untrusted command parameter before invoking an operating-system command. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation permits commands to read or alter device data or interrupt routing.
