CVE-2023-46480Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unvalidated authHost

Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Jun 5, 2025

Server-side request forgery in Owncast 0.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute code and obtain sensitive information via authHost. The unauthenticated POST /auth/indieauth flow accepts an attacker-controlled authHost and initiates server-side requests to that destination without a destination allowlist. No account or user interaction is required; successful exploitation exposes data reachable by the server and runs code with the service's privileges.
