Browser script execution via unescaped EXIF metadata
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Reflected XSS in dmpop Mejiro before 3096393 allows remote attackers to execute script in a viewer's browser via image metadata. In index.php, the application passes EXIF-derived GPS, aperture, exposure, ISO, date, and comment values into HTML without entity encoding. Exploitation requires a crafted image in a gallery and a user to view the affected page, resulting in script execution in the viewer's browser rather than on the server.
