Authenticated object injection via post-content deserialization
Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
PHP object injection in ShortPixel Enable Media Replace before 4.1.3 allows remote authenticated users to invoke gadget methods via post content. The Remove Background workflow passes attacker-controlled post content to PHP unserialize(), constructing objects without restricting allowed classes. Author-level access and a suitable gadget chain from another installed component are required; exploitation can delete files, disclose data, or execute code.
