CVE-2023-4640Network attack vector

Unauthenticated logging-level change

Published Aug 30, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

Improper access control in YugabyteDB Anywhere 2.0.0 through 2.17.3 allows remote attackers to change the logging level via an unauthenticated controller. The logging-level controller extends the unauthenticated base Controller instead of AuthenticatedController and performs no authentication or authorization checks before applying the requested level. Any network-reachable deployment therefore permits unauthenticated configuration changes that can suppress or increase logging, affecting confidentiality and integrity of operational telemetry without directly interrupting database service.
