Device takeover via plaintext registry password cache
Published Nov 30, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Cleartext credential storage in all versions of LOYTEC L-INX Configurator allows attackers to recover device administrator passwords. The application writes the most recently used device administrator password in plaintext to the current user's OhioIni registry key as ftp_pass. The attacker must obtain that registry value; the recovered password grants administrative control of the associated LOYTEC device.
