CVE-2023-46370Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via incomplete hostname filtering

Published Oct 24, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

Command injection in Tenda W18E 16.01.0.8(1576) allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands via a crafted hostName. The setFixTools handler passes hostName through sprintf into popen after rejecting only semicolons, ampersands, and pipes, leaving command substitution accepted. Access to the web management portal and a valid session are required, and successful injection runs commands as the router's root account.
