Root privilege escalation via passwordless sudo

Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Privilege escalation in eCharge Hardy Barth cPH2 1.87.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain root access. The cPH2 web service runs as www-data, and that account can invoke sudo without a password, converting control of the service account into root execution. Reaching the flaw requires access to the www-data context; successful exploitation permits commands to run with root privileges on the charging station.
