Local file disclosure via path traversal
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated May 28, 2025
Path traversal in server.js in etcd-browser 87ae63d75260 allows remote attackers to read local files via crafted GET paths. The request handler joins the URL pathname to the frontend directory without verifying that the normalized path remains beneath that directory, then streams any existing file. The built-in HTTP server must be reachable; Basic authentication applies only when configured, and container deployments limit disclosure to files readable inside the container.
