Unauthenticated login via Windows token theft

Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Improper authentication in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Services Platform before 2.80 allows remote attackers to obtain a Windows user token. The platform web service applies inadequate authentication logic to a local Windows OS user token, but Rockwell Automation has not disclosed the affected endpoint or validation failure. Exploitation requires that the authorized user has not previously logged in to the web service; the stolen token permits entry into FactoryTalk Services Platform.
