CVE-2023-46272

Unauthenticated root code execution via unchecked stack copy

Published Feb 19, 2025 · Updated Feb 20, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Extreme Networks IQ Engine before 10.6r1a and through 10.6r4 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code. The ah_auth service on UDP port 3001 copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Network adjacency is required, but authentication and user interaction are not; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code as root.
