Programming-right escalation via stale document context
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Incorrect authorization in XWiki Platform before 14.10.7 allows remote authenticated users with script rights to gain programming rights. AbstractDocumentTitleDisplayer passed only the document reference into an isolated execution context, causing title Velocity code to run under the stored content author's authority rather than the modified document author's authority. The attack requires script right but not programming right and executes document-title content with another author's privileges.
