CVE-2023-46230Network attack vector

Credential disclosure via property-edit logging

Published Jan 30, 2024 · Updated May 30, 2025

Sensitive data exposure in Splunk Add-on Builder before 4.1.4 allows local users to read credentials from internal log files. When custom app or add-on properties are edited, the app records proxy credentials, global-account credentials, and user-defined password fields in four named log files. Access requires local log-file access or administrative access to internal indexes, exposing the logged third-party secrets to reuse according to their permissions.
