Unauthenticated file read via updateFile path traversal
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 30, 2024
Path traversal in LG Electronics LG LED Assistant 2.1.45 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files through an unauthenticated API. The /api/download/updateFile endpoint uses a user-supplied path in file operations without validating that the resolved path remains within an intended directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful requests disclose files readable by the account running the application.
