Unauthenticated PLC logic replacement via unchecked downloads
Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated May 22, 2025
Missing application integrity checks in Phoenix Contact classic line PLCs allow remote attackers to replace and execute PLC logic. The controllers accept downloaded logic files, executable logic, and configurations without verifying integrity or authenticity, and their comparison CRC warning can be manipulated. No authentication or user interaction is required, but reachability depends on access to OT communications designed for closed industrial networks.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
