CVE-2023-46135Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via unchecked payload-length overflow

Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Denial of service in Stellar Development Foundation stellar-strkey before 0.0.8 allows remote attackers to crash a process via crafted input. SignedPayload::from_payload reads a four-byte inner length and performs padding arithmetic without first limiting it to 64, so 0xffffffff exceeds u32::MAX and triggers a Rust panic. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled bytes to reach that library method; the demonstrated consequence is termination of the calling process, not data access or modification.
