CVE-2023-46127Network attack vector

Authenticated HTML injection via unescaped exception traceback

Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

HTML injection in Frappe Framework before 14.49.0 allows remote authenticated users with Desk access to inject markup into documents. The handle_exception path in frappe/app.py sanitizes generated tracebacks and embeds the result in a pre element instead of escaping it, allowing payload markup to survive in the error response. A malicious Desk user must create a document containing the payload; the vendor reports limited confidentiality impact and no integrity or availability impact.
