Configuration disclosure via overprivileged viewer role
Published Oct 24, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Ethyca Fides before 2.22.1 allows remote authenticated users to read backend configuration through its API. RoleRegistryEnum.viewer_scopes includes CONFIG_READ, so GET /api/v1/config returns filtered settings to viewer accounts. An Admin UI role below owner is required; exposed data includes server addresses, ports, settings, and a database username, without write access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
