CVE-2023-46117Network attack vector

Remote code execution via CSP-derived shell input

Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

OS command injection in six2dez reconFTW before 2.7.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a malicious CSP entry. The reconftw.sh subdomain-validation regex accepts shell metacharacters in hostnames extracted from a target site's CSP, allowing later shell processing to execute that text. Exploitation requires an operator to scan an attacker-controlled domain, and injected commands run with the tool's privileges.
