Adjacent-network command execution via hard-coded MQTT key
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Command injection in Bosch Rexroth ctrlX HMI Web Panel WR21 before RC7 allows remote attackers to execute commands via crafted MQTT messages. The onboard Android Agent protects its MQTT remote-management protocol with a hard-coded DES key recoverable from the client and server applications. Reachability requires control of a malicious MQTT broker on the panel's subnet; forged messages execute arbitrary device commands without authentication.
