Browser script execution via unfiltered website footer
Published Oct 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stored XSS in WBCE CMS 1.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in other users' browsers through website_footer. The settings save handler stores website_footer HTML directly in the database without filtering, and the wbcezon template echoes that stored value. Settings privileges and a victim visiting a page rendered with that template are required; executed script can disclose user information or act with the victim's web privileges.
