Authenticated code execution via theme file write
Published Oct 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Arbitrary code execution in GetSimpleCMS 3.4.0a allows remote authenticated users to write executable PHP through the theme editor. The admin/theme-edit.php handler passes posted content to save_file for a selected theme file, including functions.php, after login and CSRF checks. An authenticated administrative session and a valid save nonce are required; the published demonstration does not establish an unauthenticated path.
