CVE-2023-46033

Root shell access via unauthenticated UART header

Published Oct 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Improper access control in D-Link DSL-2730U and DSL-2750U A-series routers allows physically proximate attackers to obtain a root shell. The four-pin UART/serial header on the printed circuit board emits system logs and opens a root terminal without authentication. Exploitation requires physical access to the circuit board, after which the terminal exposes device data and full administrative control.
