Published Oct 18, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Floating-point exception in gifsicle 1.94 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the command-line tool via a crafted GIF. The resize_stream routine in src/xform.c performs unchecked arithmetic on crafted image dimensions and raises the exception at line 1327. A user must process the file with the documented crop, rotation, and resize options; the demonstrated result is process termination, not code execution.
