Process crash via unchecked null UUID comparison
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
NULL-pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.3-DEV-rev573-g201320819-master allows local users to crash MP4Box with a crafted media file. The gf_isom_get_user_data function calls memcmp with a null UUID pointer while iterating user-data maps, causing a zero-page read during DASH processing. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is an MP4Box process crash, not code execution.
